Why Disney’s Animal Kingdom Should Be The First Stop During Your Trip!

As you all know I had a chance to visit Disney for the #ZootopiaEvent to learn all about Disney’s newest movie, Zootopia. If you have not been to see it yet, you better hurry. It just beat out Frozen- so you know it is good!

“Zootopia,” the latest animated feature from Disney, opened to a huge $73.7 million this weekend. That sum was enough to give “Zootopia” the best debut gross in the history of Disney Animation, topping the $67.4 million that “Frozen” banked on its initial wide weekend in November 2013. You can read my review HERE. But this post is not about Zootopia, it is about Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I am not going to lie, when we went to Disney in 2006, the Animal Kingdom was our least favorite park. The girls enjoyed the animals but there wasn’t a whole lot to do. Especially not when you put it up against Epcot and Magical Kingdom. But when I visited this time, it was so much better, and if I ever get to go to Disney with my girls again, it will be the first park we visit!

The Animal Kingdom will be coming alive this summer with roaring, soaring magic into the night. The all-new Rivers Of Light waterside show premieres April 22, Earth Day. And I have a sneak peek for you!

I would give anything to see that in person! Of course, there are many excellent things to do in the Animal Kingdom and I wanted to highlight a few for you!

Kilimanjaro Safaris

If you want to get up close and personal with the animals you have to take the Kilimanjaro Safaris. I also highly recommend you take the backstage tour they offer it. You learn so much about the animals and how Disney takes care of them. Did you know that Disney brought in a world renowned animal nutritionist to develop food for each of their animals? Not only that but they sell their balanced food to other zoos around the country? They also make it right on site!! When I think of Disney, I think of movies, princesses, and theme parks. But now I also reflect on how they take care of the animals and lead the charge with nutrition and ethical treatment. If that is not enough of a reason to do a backstage tour, you may get to see Elephant play with bubbles. *Drops the mic*

Festival of the Lion King

This is a must do! It is amazing and filled with Disney magic. I can’t get over how creative these performers are. I could go on and on but why don’t I just show you?

See!! Is that not amazing? Also, be sure to search Twitter for the #ZootopiaEvent hashtag. Some of the other bloggers got to see the Finding Nemo show. Unfortunately, I had to sit that one out because I got sick. But, it was all good because that brings me to my next activity you must do!

Lunch or Dinner at The Tusker House

Of course, no experience is complete at Disney without good food and character meet and greets. The menu at the Tusker House is fantastic in its own right. If you leave there hungry, I will be shocked. But the food is not the only great thing, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Daisy will all come to your table and greet the family! I was so excited about meeting Mickey I could hardly stand it!

It was a wonderful day! You can see more of what I did if you watch this short video I made 🙂
