Drool Worthy Oreo Cookie Recipes

How do you eat your Oreo’s? I like to take them apart, eat the cream and then dip the cookie in milk before gobbling it up. There is just something fun about eating an oreo and sometimes I feel like a total kid!

Awesome Cooking-Recipe Apps for iPad-Android-Windows 8

AppsBanner

Today, most people have some sort of smart device. Whether it be a tablet, phone, or iPod, you have a way to have information right at your fingertips. This can be a gold mine for foodies, cooks, or busy moms alike. If you are at the grocery store and forget an ingredient for a recipe you can bring that recipe up on your smartphone and pick up the missing ingredient. When you really think about it technology as come a long way. Foodie apps can be used to plan meals, find new recipes, or get information about ingredients. If you don’t have at least one of the foodie apps mentioned below you are missing out a wealth of information available at your fingertips.

Please note that most apps are interchangeable. I have them listed by popularity on that device. If you see an app in the iPad section but have an Andriod, 9 times out of ten that app is also on Google Play. I listed these in the order of popularity on that particular device. What may be wildly popular on iPad may not have gained steam on Android. I also listed some not so popular ones that are absolutely fantastic but relatively unknown. Of course Windows 8 apps are a complete mystery because too many people are busy hating it then seeing the real potential. ( I was a member of this club for a long time.)

10 of the Best Donut Recipes

10bestdonutrecipes

I have a real fondness for donuts. I love how the doughy, yeasty cake gives way to the ooey gooey toppings. Sorry, I am not a plain donut type girl. It at least has to have a glaze on it. There is something so special about sitting down with a great cup of coffee and a donut. It is almost like having dessert for breakfast. Most people have the misconception that making donuts at home can be hard. That is simply not true! There are so many different recipes now that do not require yeast, raising, or other difficult ingredients to make a special donut at home. With a little ingenuity you can treat your family to homemade donuts that literally blow Dunkin’ Donuts out of the water!

I have found that making great donuts at home requires a few staple tools. I can’t swear making donuts is easy if I don’t let you in on some of the tools you can use to make them. Most of them are inexpensive which is great for your wallet! Here are some items that are in my own kitchen.

[wpcol_1third id=”” class=”” style=””]51EFw6gUnIL._SX450_

This is an essintial tool for getting the middle cut out of the donut. You can use a round cookie cutter for sure but this gives you the precision you need and even cuts the center hole out giving you the perfect donut shape. Don’t throw the holes out because you can make another recipe using those!

[/wpcol_1third] [wpcol_1third id=”” class=”” style=””]41KG6T9RBCL._SX450_This pan is perfect for cake donuts. Just fill the cups, bake, icing, and BAM! you have amazing donuts at half the price![/wpcol_1third] [wpcol_1third_end id=”” class=”” style=””]81-sRPKp9-L._SL1500_ I actually received this for Christmas and I admit I was skeptical. Anyone ever try the cake pop one? I did and it was a huge mess! But this actually worked really well and I was able to make little donuts for a bake sale. They were a huge hit![/wpcol_1third_end] [wpcol_1half id=”” class=”” style=””]donutbook This is in the kitchen but it actually belongs to Nana Helen. However it is one of the best donut cookbooks I have found. It has beautiful pictures and most of the recipes are really easy.[/wpcol_1half] [wpcol_1half_end id=”” class=”” style=””]511QJHpmzVL

Of course you can’t have donuts without a great cup of coffee. Well I guess you could but it wouldn’t be as much fun. Might I suggest Donut Shop K-cups? This is one of my favorite coffees for the Keurig!

I can’t give you the tools without the recipes! Here are 10 of my favorite donut recipes around the net. I really took a long time choosing because I wanted to give you easy yet fabulous recipes!  Enjoy!

Making Delicious Coffee Recipes at Home with International Delight Light Iced Coffee

International Delight Iced Coffee 4

When you are a single Mom to two teenage daughters you realize a couple of things. They think your world revolves around them and your money does too. It seems like whenever I get just a little extra I have to spend it for something they desperately need, or want. So sometimes fancy coffee drinks are completely out of the question. I sometimes envy those Moms that make a run to Starbucks every day,but really it is all I can do just to get out of my pajamas every day. Then I have to ask myself the question “Do I really want to go out for coffee?” Most of the time it is no and thankfully making coffee recipes, including those fancy schmancy coffee drinks, are just as easy and often times less expensive.

I headed over to Wal-Mart a few days ago and found International Delight Light Iced Coffee in the coffee creamer section. Now, I have already been a big fan of the regular in Mocha flavor, but if I can get the same great taste with fewer calories I am so sold. So I picked up a carton to bring home. ( You can see my full shopping experience here). When I got home I took the carton out and read the back before placing it in the fridge. I must admit I was really amazed by the fact it was still made with Arabica beans, but was still 1/3 less calories. The biggest surprise was looking at the ingredients. It still had real sugar, not the fake kind that upsets my stomach. I nearly jumped up and down with that. One 1 cup serving is only 100 calories. May I just say it again? Sold!

International Delight Iced Coffee 1

If you have been reading the blog lately you will notice I am on a serious cupcake kick. I thought about my favorite coffee drinks and I decided to do a Mocha Mint Cupcake. The cake would infuse the Mocha iced coffee and the icing would flavored with peppermint extract and colored green. It reminds me of mint chocolate chip icecream.

Then I had to think about what went great with cupcakes? Coffee, duh! I love rich and creamy coffee drinks and I honestly thought about doing this great frozen one I do,but then I vetoed it. I decided to do Italian Iced Coffee. Which is kind of like Italian Hot Chocolate but not as dense. After I decided what to do I couldn’t wait to get started!

I found using the iced coffee was fairly easy in the recipes. For the cupcakes I substituted the water with the iced coffee. In my Italian Iced Coffee I substituted half the milk for the iced coffee. Both worked beautifully and I will definitely be using it more in my baking and I am even thinking about other recipes I can substitute it in. At $3.94 a gallon it is definitely a cheaper option. Money is really tight and I don’t feel as guilty buying something I can use in several different ways than I would if I bought one single drink that is going to be gone in an hour. Plus no matter what I am using it for I am saving an extra 100 calories by using the light!

International Delight Iced Coffee 3

After making my dessert and drink I decided to stop by International Delight Iced Coffee’s Facebook page. I was really excited to see they had more recipes and some cute, fun stuff there!

Chocolate Cupcakes with Guylian Truffle Infused Buttercream

DWR_GuyLian_Cupcake1

Guylian sent me a wonderful assortment of their Belgian Truffles..again. This time they included some of their amazing Valentine’s day packaging. Let me tell you, they would make amazing gifts! I love Guylian’s truffles because they are so decadent. They are marbled with Milk, Dark, and White Belgian chocolate and filled with their signature hazelnut filling. They are simply amazing and of course the shell and seahorse shapes are just too cute!

About Guylian:

The story of Chocolaterie Guylian began in the late 1950’s with the marriage of Guy Foubert and Liliane. Guy and Liliane joined their names in our company name: Chocolaterie Guy-lian. Guy soon realised that the world was ready for something totally new. On which the young couple created for the first time chocolates in the shape of seashells. Guy developed the recipe of our signature hazelnut praliné filling; Lilliane added the artistic touch by designing the shining marbled look and the delicately sculptured shapes. A true love story of romance and chocolate.

After sampling these delectable treats I decided to do something new with them. I have been thinking about making chocolate cupcakes for awhile now but it seems like being a chocolate lover, I wanted a twist. While eating one of them I started thinking about what an amazing buttercream they would make. So after a little tweaking the Chocolate Cupcake with Guylian Truffle Infused Buttercream was born. This is a rich cupcake and so delicious. I hope you enjoy the recipe and if you make them please let me know!
