Old Fashioned Apple Crisp- With Nana Helen

Last week Nana Helen made an awesome Old Fashioned Apple Crisp using the apples from her apple tree. Apples are my favorite part of fall. I love Apple Cider, Apple Desserts, and Apple scented candles. If you can’t get enough of apples too, then make sure you enter this giveaway.

Old Fashioned Apple Crisp may take some work in the kitchen but it is fairly easy to make. The end result is an amazing, soft filling with an incredibly crispy topping. Perfect with ice cream. Here is another step by step with Nana Helen!

Old Fashioned Apple Crisp

Slice your apples:

Put them in a dish and sprinkle your filling ingredients over them.

Stir until they are well covered:

In a bowl mix your topping ingredients:

Add the cold butter until it resembles a coarse mixture.

Spread topping over your filling mixture:

Bake until golden brown.

Serve warm with ice cream if you want. Yummy!

This sounds delicious! We make an annual trip or two to Nebraska City (home of Arbor Day) every Autumn and pick as many apples as we can afford, then I come home and start the baking and canning. Guess what recipe is going into my book now! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for sharing this!!! I am from MN where fall time equals apple orchard time and homemade apple crisp time. I have lived in AZ for the past 9 and a half years without my family. AZ does have very little fall season, no apple orchards and definitely no homemade apple crisp! In fact, they don’t know what apple crisp is! (It’s really sad actually!) I am adding this to my “I want now” list! :)

What a seasonable recipe. I was just looking at an apple crisp in my grocery store today, and thinking I should try to make it. Now, I have a recipe. I’ve never made one but always loved them!

I’ve been baking with so much pumpkin lately I haven’t given any attention to apples! Apple crisp is one of my favorites – I love that sweet crumbly topping!

Thanks. Apple crisp is my all time favorite! Easy to male (a must) and delicious. None gets tossed out.
