Keurig 2.0 – Say Hello To My New Best Friend

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”14021″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]My best friend in real life may get a tad bit upset when she finds out I have a new best friend.

This one speaks to me using the language of caffeine, every single morning. It is a new friendship but an old one. Let me explain.

I love coffee, I mean LOVE coffee. Espresso, Lattes, Iced, Hot, it doesn’t really matter. I love it all. I have 5 coffee makers in this house. Yes, FIVE. I am thinking I should be ashamed, but I am not. It is a sincere love I have.

I love my Keurig. In fact it is a running joke that if I could stick my head under it and let the coffee drain in I would. True story.

It has made me a single cup of coffee every morning for two years. I love getting up, popping a k-cup in, and letting it do the rest. But sometimes one cup doesn’t do it. I need more. It is going to be one of those days and I need a never ending supply of caffeine. That is when I bring out the coffee maker and brew a pot.

Well, used to. Say Hello to the Keurig 2.0 . It brews a single cup and a carafe. Life in the morning just got a whole lot more awesome.

I couldn’t wait to try it out and drove everyone crazy waiting for it to get here.

When it finally got here it was like Christmas. Not only did I receive the awesome K550 but I also received a bunch of carafe k-cups, single k-cups, and two carafes. It was a coffee lovers dream package. If I could have laid it on the floor and rolled around in it I totally would have.

The K550 is the largest in the Keurig 2.0 line. It boasts an extra large 80 oz. water reservoir and has other great features like:

  • Large Color Touch Display
  • Programmable Clock
  • Hot Water on Demand
  • Customizable Night-Light in Water Reservoir
  • Strength Control

It is pretty freaking amazing.

It is great to be able to brew a carafe or a single cup. I love the customizable night light and the ability to have hot water at the touch of the button.

What I am not thrilled with is not being able to use any k-cup I want, especially my k-cup that I can use my own coffee in.

I understand the reasoning behind it but I am not exactly rich and authorized k-cups are expensive. Plus some of my favorite coffees are not able to be used in this machine. It kind of ruins the whole experience for me.

The official k-cups that can be used in Keurig 2.0 have a white rim. Here is a little¬†graphic to show you which ones you can use and which ones you can’t.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”14031″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border” border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I am not going to sugar coat it, I really hate that feature but there are so many things I love about it. I love the large water reservoir, hot water on demand, and the ability to brew several cups of coffee at once.

I love the look of it. I am not a huge fan of stainless but soon they will have skins you can put on it to make it personal.

Another thing I totally love is being able to make coffee stronger. So if I am in the mood for a really strong dark roast I can just adjust the strength.

I think it boils down to whether or not you can live without your k-cup or favorite coffees if they are not official k-cups. It is a personal choice.

I decided to keep using it because they have over 250 varieties to choose from and often times they have specials making it easier to get them at a discounted price. Also, Walmart and other places have good deals on the k-cups.

As much as I love my old Keurig I really think the Keurig 2.0 is the best option because it has many more great features, you can brew a carafe now, it has customizable options, and in my opinion brews faster and better than the old version.

If someone was to ask me on the street about it I would definitely say it was worth the money. Will everyone think that? No, but it is my honest opinion. I have really enjoyed using it the past couple of weeks and the features make the extra couple of dollars in k-cups worth it.
