Food Network is my addiction. I know what you are thinking ( no, I really do. I can read minds, didn’t you know that?)You are picturing me in dark room where no one can see me, stalking Food Network. Well, if that was what you were thinking you were right. No, not really, was just pulling your leg there. Seriously though I really do have an addiction to Food Network. When the TV is not on I have it going on my computer through OnDemand. If I can’t have it playing I am browsing the website. In fact for awhile I was surprised I was getting anything done with The Neely’s, Bobby Flay, and Rachael Ray going through my brain. I had a problem and one I couldn’t fix. My mother ( you will meet her next week in a new fun series I have coming up) finally said “Bobbie you need to stop.” Of course this was because I was constantly pestering her with the next “we have to make this” recipe.
I searched online but could not find a Food Network 12 step program. I knew I had to do something but wasn’t sure what it was. So I did what any normal, sane, network addicted person would do. I turned to blogs. Unfortunately I got confused that I was supposed to stop an addiction not create a new one. As some of you can see I have a lot of food related stuff on here. In fact I could post for months and not tell you all my favorite nooks and crannies on the internet. After my Fall recipe segment yesterday I received quite a few e-mails from people wanting to know where I find all these great recipes and these sites. What are my favorites? Do I eat all this food? The questions went on, so I decided to tell my story.
To be honest I really don’t eat a lot. I love to eat, I love food but I don’t constantly cook all these recipes. Have I tried them, yes. Ninety-five percent of the recipes you find here I have tried. I have been on the internet since dial up days and have found so many interesting sites.
What are my favorites?
That is a tough question but here are my 10 favorite recipe sites ( some of them even made the Top 2012 Food Blogs, yes I am jealous) and why I like them.
Believe it or not I found Berry Ripe while going through another site that sells services. It was the look that caught my attention. The deep berry color was gorgeous and so are the food pictures. I am not a vegan but I do eat vegan meals on occasion due to stomach issues. One of my favorite recipes from there is Kickin’ Black Bean Veggie Burgers. I know a lot of bloggers and individuals hunt for vegan meals a lot. This place is a great resource not only on vegan but also health and lifestyle well being.
I love Epicurious. Not only do they have great recipes but they have great recipes from around the world! They have a recipe box right on site and you can save all the recipes you find there. If you are feeling adventerous and want to travel to a far off place try this recipe for Tandoori.
I love the simplicity of this site. I used to live in Texas and loved the food there. My Dad visited there one time for work and even he talked about the food. Everything really is bigger and better in Texas. One of my all time favorite recipes from this site is Fried Blackberry Pies. I am huge fan of blackberries and will hunt them high and lo. Yes these are fried, yes these are probably not healthy, and no I do not care because they are awesome!
It was the name. Honestly it was. I have so many food blogs I follow, food sites I follow, and newsletters out the wazoo. The last thing I needed was another blog. I saw this one in a blog resource group. The name..I couldn’t resist. All my willpower went out of the window and I had to check this blog out. I loved it! Not only does she have amazing recipes but she has articles. Fun ones at that. Of course with that name, how could you not? Sadly as much as I love the blog I have only tried one recipe from there-Corn Bread with Bacon.
6. Mom Spark
This is not really a food blog. It is actually an everything blog. I love their recipes though. I love this site, period. If you have not checked it out you really should. Check out these recipes while you are there : 20 Make You Drool Bacon Recipes.
5. Mom Start
I really love this blog and she gets so many comments. She does it right and keeps me coming back. My Mom and I tried her Devils Food Box Cake Mix Cookies a little while ago and they were awesome!
I adore this site. My Mom is southern and she cooks that way. You will meet her soon. Tina honestly reminds me of my Mother when she was younger. She did it all just like Tina does. If there is one person I would love to meet in the bloggy foodie atmosphere it would be her. My mom cooks with a cast Iron skillet and Tina has great recipes for Cast Iron Skillets. One of my favorites his Hillybilly Spaghetti Pie.
3. Rachael Ray
Do I need to say anymore? It’s Rachael Ray. What is there not to love? I have been watching Rachael Ray since she started Food Network! My all time favorite recipe, that I make time and time again? Chicken Fried Steaks and Pan Gravy.
I go here a lot. She is amazing and the recipes are amazing. What I want to point out on her site isn’t a recipe. Click HERE and have fun!
1. Food Network
Come on, is that really surprising? This whole post is about blogs I found while trying to curb my Food Network addiction. Who do I love most? Check out Down Home with the Neely’s, Guy Fieri, and one of my all time favorites Sandra Lee .
I guess I never got over my addiction. Even as I type this I am watching Food Network. Oh well, it made a great post!
