Zootopia has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and it really doesn’t surprise me. It really is that good.
In my opinion it is the best Disney film graphic wise and maybe even story wise. The movie addresses bullying, fear mongering, and other situations that our kids today face. It will really open up the avenue for you to have several talks with your kids.
But it isn’t all “after school special”. It is super funny with jokes that kids will understand and parents will understand. It doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 105, this movie will speak to you.
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”).
How to Draw Judy Hopps and Flash
To get you even more excited about Zootopia here are some videos on how to draw Flash and Judy Hopps!
Anyone that knows me knows that I am huge, huge, huge fan of Ellen’s. Dory was my favorite character in Finding Nemo for two reasons. One, she was super funny and two, because Ellen voiced her. Ellen inspires me to be the kindest and most generous person I can be. I never miss her show and when I am sad I know she will make me laugh. Her kind spirit just shines through and makes you feel good.
So you can only imagine how excited I was to find out Dory was getting her own movie. How AWESOME is that? It is due in theaters June 17th 2016. I can’t wait to see it and if this trailer is any foreshadowing of what is to come, it is going to be wild and funny with a lot of heart! Kind of like Ellen 🙂
I took my 18 year old to see Deadpool ( yes, I know this is about Zootopia but bear with me, I am making a point) and while I was sitting there watching Ryan Reynolds fight naked in a burning building I got to thinking about how the years flew by. When did she become old enough to watch this film in the theater, with her mother? I looked over at her to see how she was handling it, even though I know she had probably seen worse on Youtube, I wanted to make sure she wasn’t uncomfortable. Or, at the very least I didn’t need to open up some kind of dialogue about why it is not a good idea to fight naked in a burning building because really, there isn’t a whole lot of life lessons in Deadpool. As I watched her laugh and enjoy herself I thought my days of cute kids movie were over. Then I screened Zootopia and knew that maybe, just maybe it wasn’t.
As you will read in the interview, Zootopia is a movie all of your family will enjoy. It will open up new ways for you to talk about touchy subjects, just like the ones Jason plans on talking to his kids about. Parents will identify with Mr. and Mrs. Hopps as they send their daughter off to the “big city” for the first time. I know I did because Dakotah is leaving me for college soon and I am worried. There is even a Breaking Bad reference that most adults will get ( not me, I didn’t watch the show. Shocking, I know) but it will fly over your kids head. You will laugh and cry but all in all it will be something the whole family will enjoy.
My review is coming soon but in the mean time read below to find out Jason’s thoughts about the film, showing it to his daughters, and about how the movie will open up dialogue between you and your children about some very important subjects.
As you probably know I was in Disney for 4 days celebrating the release of Zootopia which is going to be in theaters March 4th 2016. We stayed at the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and OMG! it was amazing! When we went in 2006 we stayed off property in a time share. It didn’t make for the best vacay because we had to drive everywhere but we figured it was cheaper. I really did not know how wrong we were until I stayed here over the weekend. Staying on property in one of the resorts is the best decision you could make. Don’t worry, I will tell you why and of course I have a lot of photos!
On Saturday, February 20th I will be in Walt Disney World helping Disney celebrate their new movie Zootopia. This is known as the #ZootopiaEvent or AKA “Bobbie’s Vacay Away From Everyone”. No matter what you call it, it is going to be fun!
Here are some of the fun things we will be doing!
Staying at the Gorgeous Animal Kingdom Lodge, Oh My!
I am so stoked about this!! I cannot believe I am going to be staying at such an amazing place 🙂 Inspired by the traditional African kraal, the horseshoe-curved design provides spectacular views of 4 lush savannas that over 200 hoofed animals and birds call home. Delight in dazzling pool areas, exciting animal programs and one of the largest collections of African art in the United States as you experience your own African safari adventure with a touch of Disney magic. Just for good measure this is what my room looks like:
Marshall better be glad he has such an amazing trip planned or I probably wouldn’t leave the room!! Haha! I just can’t believe I will be spending 3 nights in such a beautiful room!
Dinner and Bowling at Splitsville
First of all, how fun is that name? I love it! The picture looks like a fun place and I can’t wait to see it in person. I took a sneak peek at the menu and it looks like they have some really amazing options. Definitely not like the bowling alleys here in our neck of the woods. They have sushi which includes this lovely Crab Ragoon roll I have my eye on, even the appetizers sound fancy. You can look for yourself HERE. I can’t wait to watch everyone bowl and get plenty of pictures!
Backstage Safari Tour
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about this. I love animals and when we went on the Muppet Event I got to go to the zoo for the first time. Which was AMAZING. This time I will be behind the scenes checking out all of the amazing things that Disney’s Animal Kingdom does for the animals. This includes an insider’s look at conservation, animal nutrition and medicine, animal care and behavioral studies. Highlights will include visits to the backstage animal housing area, the Animal Nutrition Center, the Veterinary Hospital and an experience on Kilimanjaro Safaris! Again, I can’t wait to take some amazing pictures. I am not sure if it is allowed but if it is I will definitely be posting some videos on Facebook and maybe even Periscope!
Screening of Zootopia and a party at Animal Kingdom!!
It looks like the animals are going to have some competition because the party animals will be invading their space! Not only are we screening Zootopia at the AMC at Disney Springs but then we will be going to Animal Kingdom to party the night away. It will be a night of adventure in the Harambe Village Marketplace as we explore the exciting flavors of Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and enjoy a festive dinner celebrating Disney’s newest film!
Zootopia Celebrity Interviews
Of course it wouldn’t be a Disney press trip without some killer celebrity interviews. I am over the moon about these! We will be interviewing Jason Bateman (voice of “Nick Wilde”), directors Directors Byron Howard & Rich Moore and the lovely Ginnifer Goodwin (voice of “Judy Hopps”). I am always amazed that I get to interview such amazing talent.
After rubbing elbows with the stars we will be heading to Hollywood Studios for a fun filled day! For around 2 1/2 hours we will have some free time to grab lunch and maybe ride some rides. I am not a big ride fan. I used to be but anxiety keeps me off of them now. However I would love to check out the Muppet 3D and Toystory Mania. We will just have to see how fast I can move around the park because we are meeting up for a fun filled evening! First up is dinner at the Hollywood Prop Shop. I tried and tried to find information about this online but couldn’t. Then after changing my search terms I found out that it is a private venue for parties. So, maybe a private dinner for us super awesome bloggers? I guess we will find out. It looks a tad bit dark so I am thinking a bigger flash for my camera is needed!
The awesomeness just keeps coming! After the super awesome dinner we are attending the “Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular” fireworks show and dessert party. You will never begin to understand how excited I am over this. People that know me in real life know that I am a HUGE Star Wars fan. I have been since I was a little girl. Of course back then it wasn’t popular for girls to like “boy stuff” and I got made fun of, but I didn’t care. I am so glad I lived to see a time when girls could like things like Star Wars! Anyway, back to the party. We will be trying Star Wars themed desserts ( hello Darth Vader cupcakes) and then viewing an amazing fireworks show! I hope I don’t cry like I did when we went to the Mickey’s Christmas Party and watched Cinderella’s castle light up.
You can’t go to Disney World without going to Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately I will only have about 4 hours in the park because I will have to head back to the airport to go home :*( But I will be making the most of my time by going to… BE OUR GUEST! Yes, I am super, super excited to be going there for lunch! It looks amazing and I can’t think of a better way to end this amazing trip!
