Keep Your Kids Occupied During Those Holiday Road Trips

The holidays are coming which means it will be time to visit Grandma! Let’s be honest, traveling with kids sucks. It really does. They normally fight, holler they are hungry every 5 minutes, or are general terrors. We have to be understanding though because it is really hard to sit still that long and be good! Heck, even I have a hard time doing!

Chances are you bought a new car (or are thinking of buying one) from Bossier Chrysler Dodge Jeep to keep those littles safe while traveling! We helped you with the awesome car, now let us help you keep them occupied!

White Board– Let your little ones draw and color with crayola washable markers on a white board. If they are old enough and can write you can ask them to write down the names of things they see. Like a tree, car, cloud, or animal. Better yet let them draw them!

Wish List Making– Get some toy catalogs and let them make a wish list. Let them cut out the pictures and glue them into a collage. Not only will it keep them occupied for hours but it will give them something to look forward to during the holidays and birthdays.

Books On CD’s– When you have enough with the “projects” settle in with a great book on CD. It will be even better if they have the book to read along!

Photography on the Move–  Let them take pictures of what you are driving by with a disposable or better yet, a digital camera.

Body art:  Use washable tattoos or have the kids create their own by drawing on themselves with washable markers.  It is a great way to entertain them and sure to get lots of laughs!

Sing Together- Put on there favorite music ( even if you hate it) and sign along. Have a singing contest like American Idol and let each person sing a different song. The one with the most applause wins!

Using these tips with your own tips will insure that your road trip is fun and a lot less stressful for all those involved!

8 Items You Should Always Carry In Your Dodge

Bought a new Dodge from Wolfchase Chrysler Dodge Jeep? Congrats! Buying a new car (or a “new to you” car) can be a stressful and joyous time. When you are there you have all the help you need but when you drive away you are kind of on your own. So how do you keep yourself and your passengers safe? By keeping some basic items in your vehicle!

Booster (jumper) cables

These can enable you to get your car started with a dead battery (if a good Samaritan comes along) and also enables you to help someone out in a fix.

First aid kit (and manual)

This can be vital if you’re in an accident and someone has injuries. Slowing down bleeding quickly can mean the difference between walking something off and going into shock.

If your tire has a pretty rapid leak, Fix-a-flat can often provide just enough to get you to a repair station. I recommend at least two cans.

Tire repair kit

If the tire has deflated rapidly, a tire repair kit makes it possible for you to patch up the tire well enough for a short period.

Tire air gauge

This one isn’t so vital for emergencies, but is absolutely essential for preventive maintenance – keeping your tires fully inflated not only improves gas mileage, but reduces the risk of tire explosions.

Road flares

These are invaluable at night so that others can see you if you need to change a tire or such things.

Flashlight (and extra batteries)

Similarly, a flashlight is utterly essential at night if you need to change a tire.

This can help loosen any bolts that won’t come loose.

Don’t Look Like A First Time Buyer When Heading To The Showroom

Thinking about heading to Peter Conte Chevrolet to pick out a new Chevy Traverse? That is awesome because it is a great car! It has some great features like:

7 Seats- If you are expanding your family or just need a lot of room, make sure you check out the 7 seats! With the fold down option you will have plenty of room for your gear or your family!

It has some superior technology, including built 4G  internet. Which is great way to keep that growing family occupied! It also has Pandora, SiriusXFM Radio, and streaming through apps like Spotify using the bluetooth technology. Also, you don’t have to worry about keeping all of your gadgets charged. With up to 3 USB ports you can always charge a device!

The innovative safety features of Traverse help make every road a safe one. Available technologies like an industry-first Front Center Air Bag – Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, as well as Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning, all work together for a confident drive, inside and out.

And my favorite feature of all- Heated seats. They are so awesome especially when the weather gets cold like it is now. We affectionately call them butt warmers and I know you will love them just as much as we do!

Of course when you go to buy your first mid-size crossover you don’t want to look like a total newb. Here are some tips to keep you confident!

Set a budget:  When shopping for your first car, you want to be sure you know how much you can afford to spend. One of the biggest mistakes you can make as a first time car buyer is looking for a car without a realistic budget in place.

Check your credit report. If you have bad credit clear it up before buying a car. Also, make sure there are no discrepancies or identity theft. You want the best rating possible before going to the dealer.

Get an auto loan pre-approval. Before stepping on the lot make sure you can get financed. If this is your first car ever you may not be able to get financing at a good rate. Make sure you know how much you can borrow and what the payments actually will be. Sometimes it may cheaper to pay in cash. Also, if it is possible get a cosigner if you can’t afford cash and have no credit rating.

il_570xn-932487197_np8nShow your adventerous side with this “Not All Who Wander Are Lost” decal from Salt City Graphics

il_570xn-902498566_httiA great way to show everyone your car belongs to you is with a great monogram decal like the Vine Monogram Decal from Run Wyld Vinyl Designs

il_570xn-1054625115_r261Or you can show your funny side with this The Empire Doesn’t Care About Your Stick Figure Family decal from 1325 Designs.

il_570xn-792254426_akoiSpeaking of stick figure families, if you just purchased a family vehicle such as the Chevrolet Equinox you may want to show off your lovely family with this decal from  Brilliant Designs.

Of course as with any decoration you want to be careful when applying vinyl, magnets or anything else to your car. Do not apply it to the paint, it could mess it up. When you are applying your decal to a window make sure the surface is not hot. It will ruin the decal and leave residue that may be hard to remove. Always follow the application instructions.
